Tahitian Pearls

Tahitian PearlsTahitian Pearls are known for iridescent and vibrant colors. Though they are often called “black” Pearls their colors are actually Peacock, Eggplant, Green, Olive Green, Blue and Magenta. And, though they are called Tahitian, they are not actually cultivated in Tahiti but throughout the waters of French Polynesia. Unlike the feminine elegance of a South Sea Pearl, Tahitians are spirited and vivacious. John Steinbeck gave us a wonderful description for the luster of a Pearl: “…it captured the light and refined it and gave it back in a silver incandescense.”

In this necklace I combined the best of both worlds using South Sea and Tahitian Pearls together.
