Still on my theme of roses, I had been toying with a matched pair of Oregon Sunstone for earrings. Their lavender rose color intrigued me but I spent several days trying to design. In an Aha! moment, I spotted three Dementoids. The very unique green of these unusual Garnets were absolutely perfect! Demantoid is probably the most brilliant of all of the Garnets with a very high refractive index. It is also one of the most rare of all colored gemstones, and those from Russia often have a distinctive ‘horsetail’ inclusion. Indeed, one of my three has a beautiful example of these feathery golden threads. Cannot help myself, that one I am keeping for my very own!
