Finally! I have time to “work” in my lab.

Finally! I have time to “work” in my lab. I use the term work loosely because this is one of the most exciting parts of my profession! First, I set up all of my equipment, which I keep stored and covered. Then, I lay out my reference books and materials. These books are fabulous, I can and do spend hours with them! I choose a stone at random and don’t even look at the label until I finish as it is much more fun to make this a mystery to be solved. Each result is entered into the database, accompanied by a photo. If the stone is one that has some wonderful inclusions, I take a picture through my microscope and enter that as well. So far, thanks to the integrity of the vendors I deal with, my stones are all who they are supposed to be!
